Welcome!

-  The A.G.M. Of Blairgowrie Players took place on Tuesday 6th July, 2010 to a small audience.  Details of the new committee can be found on the About Us Page.

-  The Players will be holding  “Finding Snow White” auditions on 5th August at 7.30pm at the Hill Church for girls 12+.  These auditions have been devised in the style of the BBC TV programme Over The Rainbow.  Auditions will be held before a panel of judges.  Potential Snow Whites should bring along sheet music of a song of their choice and should also be prepared to sing Someday My Prince Will Come.   Please contact Graham Reid on 01250 874230 (daytime) to register an interest.

-  The Players will be performing Snow White as their pantomime this winter.  The dates are Monday 29 November until Saturday 4th December.  There will be a matinee on the Saturday.  Full ticket availability will be published later in the year, however tickets will be on sale at Tesco on Friday 19th and Sunday 21st November.  Auditions for parts in the Panto will take place in August, watch the local press.

-  The Players will be performing ‘Table Manners’ by Alan Ayckbourn at the Town Hall on 2nd & 3rd of September this year.  Please see the Productions Page for more details.  Tickets will be £6.50.  Curtain up is at 7.30pm.  There will be tea & coffee for sale.

-  The SCDA One Act Play Festival 2011 will take place in Birnam at the end of February and we are already planning ahead.  Anyone wishing to direct an entry should advise a committee member as soon as possible.

-  Pub Quiz!  There was a fund raising Pub Quiz in the Royal Hotel on Tuesday 15th June.  18 teams took part in this fun evening, all keen, enthusiastic and brilliant!  Well, two out of three isn’t bad!  The winning team was made up of Morag Cameron, Drew Tosh and Nora Brown, congratulations to them.  Over £400 was raised at this event, so thanks to Kay and her team of organisers and to everyone who came along and joined in.

-  The British Final of the Festival of One Act Plays took place in the Village Theatre, East Kilbride on 25th/26th June 2010.  Scotland was represented by the Thistle Theatre Company, performing ‘The Hitchhiker’ by Lucile Fletcher.  Unfortunately they were unsuccessful on the night.  The winning performance was given by the Lurig Drama Group from Antrim with ‘Melody’ by Deirdre Kinahan.

-  The Players youth entry to the 2010 S.C.D.A. One Act Plays has subsequently been awarded the Jenny Hill Youth Trophy for 2nd highest points (at district level) in the Youth Category in the Northern Division.  Well done to Rhianne, Robert, Ruth and Graham for ‘The Edge’.

-The Players recently took part in the S.C.D.A. One Act Plays festival.  Two plays were presented at the Birnam Arts Centre in February;  Blairgowrie Players ‘A’ presented ‘Joining The Club’ by David Tristram and Blairgowrie Players ‘B’ (Youth) presented ‘The Edge’ by Ron Nicol.
