This lavish musical is running in Blairgowrie Town Hall at 7pm on Wednesday 24th - Friday 26th August and on Saturday 27th at 2pm. Rehearsals are over, the opening night is upon us. There are some well known faces taking part along with new members. A story of love, intrigue and loss with some very well known songs being performed: Hello Young Lovers, Shall We Dance, Getting to Know You, etc. The original film starred Yul Brynner and Deborah Kerr in the lead rolls, we are confident our lead performers will do us proud.
Set in Siam in the 19th Century the musical tells the story of Anna Leonowens and her arrival in Bangkok where she is to teach the King’s children to speak English. Arriving with her young son, she stands up to the King which is unheard of, eventually falls in love with him but her English upbringing does not allow her to join his group of wives. She is just about to leave Bangkok when she hears of the King’s impending death and returns to help his son to rule his people.

The Musical Director is Colin Grant and the Producer is Graham Reid. Tickets (£9 each, £7 for concessions) will be on sale at The Music Box, Allan Street, Blairgowrie, and on the door. This is a performance not to be missed, with wonderful music, storyline and costumes.
